Keds Extends Deal With Mischa Barton: "The Keds Corp., a subsidiary of Stride Rite Corp., said Monday it has extended its relationship with actress Mischa Barton. The new will expand Barton's current role to be the spokesperson for Keds worldwide, and extend the relationship for an additional year. The brand has committed to a three-year contract with the actress from 2005 through 2007.

As part of this agreement, Barton will appear in the footwear company's print, TV and outdoor advertising campaigns, direct mail, in-store materials and online in North America and around the world, as well as make personal appearances domestically and abroad on behalf of the brand. Financial terms were not released."

The British-born beauty flew over to Italy recently to shoot scenes for her upcoming movie The Decameron, and she found that Rome - outside of The Vatican - was surprisingly relaxed.

She says, 'I was lucky enough to just be there right when the Pope had his funeral, which was such a piece of history. It was amazing.'

'I kind of flew the next day and I was amazed... Everyone was kind of so distracted. They kept saying that over four million people were in Rome, but we had no idea. Shockingly enough you could just go out to dinner.'"

THE OC - BARTON EMBARKS ON CANCER CAMPAIGN: "THE OC star MISCHA BARTON has embarked on a campaign to raise more cancer awareness, after losing two of her grandparents to the deadly disease.

The British-born actress, 19, is helping the WOMEN'S CANCER RESEARCH FUND raise money, and she's also raising awareness about the way teens can reduce their risk of developing the disease.

She says, 'One in three women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.

'If they know about the difference early detection can make now, it'll help them later.'"
